Focus on Fundamentals

The Fundamental Principle: Likes Align and Congeal

Things generally tend to work out best when built one step at a time.  There are two phrases you'll be reminded of throughout the pages of Full Spirit if you master these two phrases, these are the two master keys in the toolkit of life:  “Focus on Fundamentals” and “Back to Basics”.   These two key phrases form the foundations for all the areas we’ll be focusing on.  Regardless of the focus, the fundamentals and basics are the same, threading themselves continual through every aspect of life.  Building a successful relationship, a healthy body, a personal fortune, all begins by Focusing on the Fundamentals and getting Back to the Basics…

Allow me the privilege of being repetitive for a moment if you will, to be very clear here, building a multimillion dollar enterprise is done through the same fundamentals and basics as improving your diet or building your connection with the ones you love.  These same simple concepts repeated over and over, build the castle of your life the same way 10,000 bricks repeated over and over create a glorious cathedral.

You might ask, “If it’s so simple, Why doesn’t everyone have it all already?”  Simply put, most people are using the fundamentals and basics to create the life they don’t want! Could it be more simple than that?

The Fundamental Principle Explained:

Let’s first look at the Fundamental Principle.  It’s called, “The Fundamental Principle,” and it is working every instant with or without or influence.  The Fundamental Principle is the overriding law at work in each and every aspect of our lives.  It is so simple, so basic, so universally true it governs everything everywhere.  This principle works with or without any effort on our part, it only makes sense to use it to our advantage.

The Fundamental Guiding Principle of the Universe is this: “Likes Align and Congeal.”  This can be seen everywhere you care to look, it is pervasive.  It is written over and over on every page of Nature’s Bible, things which are alike have a tendency to align with one another and gather together.  Think for an instant of a grassy meadow, hundreds of thousands of stalks of grass standing side by side all reaching towards the sun. The grass in the meadow seems to be gathered together, at the edge of the meadow the trees seem to be gathered together, beyond them, the rocks seem to be so similar all gathered together, and even there in the meadow amidst the grass we see the people gathered together.  Over and over we see this repeat itself in nature, with or without or effort things which are alike naturally gather together.

Reflect for a moment on a flowing stream, millions of droplets of water gathered together flowing towards the oceans.  The trees gather at the side of the stream, the sand and pebbles at the bottom, the water all together, this is what it means when we say: "Likes Congeal".  Then look at the water itself, how it all flows the same direction, or the trees which all grow the same direction, this it what it means when we say, "Likes Align".  The Fundamental Principle states that, "Likes Align and Congeal."  When we say Align, we mean that those things which are alike will have a tendency to move in the same direction towards the same goal, they travel together.  When we say congeal we mean to say that those things which are alike will have a tendency towards coming together.

My favorite place to see this is the beach.  The beach so perfectly illustrates the Universal Law that it is hard to miss!  It is important to understand that this is the Universal Principle, it governs things which are conscious as well as it governs things which are unconscious.  Look for a moment at this image of the beach, what do you see?  Houses of similar design are all grouped together, the people have gathered together on the beach doing similar activities, the water has grouped together moving in similar way, and the sand has gathered together at the waters edge.  The sand is so special, every grain so similar, yet unique and individual, just like the people, all so similar, yet so distinct and individual.  Such the same for the waves, each wave distinct, unique and doing so much the same as all the other waves.  Likes align and Congeal, conscious or not, with or without effort, this Fundamental Universal law applies everywhere we care to look.

It Works for You No Matter What:

This principle has been at work in your life since the moment you came into being.  It does not care what you like or dislike, it only cares what you are like.  Your friends, your loves, your job, your health, all these things and habits are the physical representation of what you are like on the spiritual level.  You life is your spirit made manifest.  This principle insists that you get what you earn, that people who are in alignment with you will come into your life, you will get more of what you already have.

Did you ever notice how successful business people often join business associations where they can gather with other successful people?  Or how recovering alcoholics are benefited so greatly by attending groups with other recovering alcoholics?  Or that at gyms and health clubs, the people are often very healthy gathered together doing the activities which make them fit?  Or that in a bag of chips, the small broken bits gather together at the bottom, and the big unbroken ones at the top?

What’s that last one there, a bag of chips?  Of course the little ones go to the bottom, they are smaller, and it is natural that they sink to the bottom and gather together with little chips of similar shape and size.  How does that show the principle?  How do little chips sinking to the bottom of a bag relate to rich people living in rich neighborhoods or joining clubs with other rich people?  Do you see it?

Let's stick for moment with the examples all around us and then we'll look at how this applies to our individual situations.  The Fundamental Principle doesn’t care, it isn't conscious, it is a simple a matter of fact.  Look for a moment at the picture to the left, of course the grass is gathered together, the people on the path gathered and aligned, but look at the trees, do you see how perfectly they have gathered themselves into neat rows?  That is because they have been planted in rows!  They have been groomed and manicured to grow in neat rows, humans have influenced them, but what is important here is that the humans have influenced them in accord with the Fundamental Universal Principle.  Regardless of the how or the why, it has occurred, the trees have aligned and come together.

So what does this mean?  It is so simple it can be elusive.  Like so many things right in front of our noses, it can be difficult to see.  We aren't looking at the how or the why, simply the fact.  The trees to the right were not planted to all grow in similar groups, nor groomed to grow in neat rows, yet they have aligned and congealed without anyone's help.  The simplicity of this can make it hard to see:  Every aspect of your life is the way it is because of the way you are.  The way you are is creating everything you are experiencing; the Fundamental Principle insists on this, it will allow nothing else.  What you are like on the inside, how you see yourself will insist that its reflection be seen on the outside.  If your spirit is full, your life will be full.  If you have a rich attitude, you will be rich.  The Fundamental Principle insists on this.

What Guides the Fundamental Principle:

This is a fantastic question, if you understand that the Fundamental Principle is an active process of perpetually aligning and congealing with those persons and things which you like, you will naturally come to ask, "What guides this?  What determines what I am like?"  The answer again is so simple it can be a little tricky to see, what you are like on the inside determines what you will experience on the outside, and what you experience on the outside will influence what you are like on the inside.  The distinction here is that the inside determines the outside, and outside merely influences the inside.

This means that the way we are on the inside will create our situations and circumstance, and at the same time, what we experience on the outside will influence the way we feel on the inside.  This gives rise to two approaches for creating your life as a dream come true can be done in many ways.  The Outside-In approach is very popular, it is full with promises of immediate gratification.  It works something like this:  Change your outside situation and you will feel different on the inside, for example; “Not happy with your, job?  Get a different one.  Not happy with you finances? Make more money.  Not happy with your relationship?  Get rid of it, replace it.  Not satisfied with your body? Exercise, eat different.”  Very simple.  Makes good sense to, doesn’t it?  Simply change what is happening on the outside, and then you’ll feel different on the inside, so easy.

A problem which arises over and over with the outside-in approach is this:  The outside will always align with the inside, the inside guides the flow, for example; "Unhappy with your job? Then get a new one, then become unhappy with that one too."  "Unhappy with your relationship?  Then get a new one, then become unhappy with that one too."  The problem with fixing our emotions by changing our outside world is simple, it doesn’t work for long, it doesn't last.

Lasting change comes from the inside.  The Inside-Out approach is different, and its promise of lasting change is different too.  The idea is that by changing the way we see things from the inside, the outside world will align with the way we see it.  In other words, if we change the way we are on the inside, our external world will shift to line up.  For example:  Not happy with your job?  Do it to the absolute best of your ability.  Do it better than anyone else, learn it completely, become the best at it, Do More and Better Service than that for which you are paid, go above and beyond, find joy in doing it to the best of your ability.  Then watch what happens, watch what comes your way.

I’ve seen this over and over, a person dissatisfied with their job changes their attitude and decides to do it better than anyone could and finds joy in doing it.  Not surprisingly, they congeal with others who are also  doing their best, eventually they attract the attention of someone who says, “Wow, you are a joyful hard worker, I’d like to hire you to do…”  Suddenly, they have the job they always wanted!  Suddenly they find themselves missing the job they hated as they move onto the job of their dreams.  It is immediate, and it is lasting.

Immediately they begin to find joy in the work they once disliked because it becomes a game to them, the game is seeing how well they can do the job.  Immediately the suffering through a hated job vanishes and is replaced with a playful striving, the work they hated becomes fun!  They’ve changed the way they are being, the way they are seeing things, and suddenly, almost immediately the work changes for them. Instead of finding a better job, they find joy in the present one, then, after a short time, often a very short time they find themselves getting that better job of their dreams.

Which Approach is Best?

Here at Full Spirit, we like to make use of every tool, and strongly avoid focusing on what’s wrong with things.  Both the Outside-In and Inside-Out approach have many strengths which can be used to compliment tone another.  The approach you’ll be putting to use in the pages and lessons of Full Spirit are makes use of both techniques, changing the way you feel on the inside, simultaneously changing your outside situations.  This technique is known as Quantum Anchoring, and we'll talk allot more about it in the Practical Version of this article: Putting the Fundamental Principle to Work

As you change your internal world to match your ideal, making changes in your outside world will only help the process by anchoring your new beliefs to the physical world.  We’ll talk allot more about anchors in other sections.  For now, think of it like this, if you hated your job, and then decided to get a better one by becoming great at your current one, what good would it do you if you refused the better one when it came along?  We anchor our internal world in our external world, first improving our attitude, second improving our situation. The best practices approach uses of both techniques, starting at the inside and working outward to the world that surrounds us.  We change what we are like, and then the outside world aligns with the way we are, and the life we want congeals all around us.  Our internal attitudes become the seed around which our situation grows.

Using the Fundamental Principle

"Focus on Fundamentals!"  If you hear me shout, "Focus on Fundamentals" 10,000 times it still won't be stressed enough!  Applying the fundamentals in your life is easy, easy, easy!  Now that you understand, "Likes Align and Congeal", and you now know that it is an indisputable law, a property of nature which governs everything in your life, you surely want to know how you can make use of it for the best.

In the article "GET the Most Out of Life" you began to understand that you are always growing, no matter what, you are always growing either for the better or for the worse, and because you are here reading this, you have declared that you've decided to grow for the better.  So the first tool in your toolkit is, "FOCUS ON FUNDAMENTALS:  What are you being like?  What do you want to be like?"

I am little more than your guide, your constant companion on this journey into the living dream, and as your guide I work for you, stand beside you asking, "What are you being like?  What do you want to be like?" Then I shout, "FOCUS ON FUNDAMENTALS!" (I'm a guide who sometimes shouts :-)  Every time you find yourself existing, pause for a moment and focus on fundamentals by saying to yourself and then asking, "Likes align and congeal, What am I being like?  What do I want to be like?"  Memorize that phrase, say it to yourself ten thousand times everyday, "Likes align and congeal.  What am I being Like?  What do i want to be like?"

Who you are, what you are being like on the inside determines what your outside becomes.  Your situation does not determine your feelings, your feelings determine your situation!  Happiness comes to happy people.  Smiling faces find smiles everywhere!  It is not riches, or houses, or possessions which create happiness, happiness creates riches!  Find your happiness inside of you and everywhere you look you will see it reflected back at you.  "Likes align and congeal, What are you being like?  What do you want to be like?"  You are currently, as you read this, a person who is being like a person on an adventure, an adventure towards fulfilling the living dream!  You are powerful, motivated, and inspired to create within yourself the happiness you know you deserve!
